Succession certificateوراثتی سرٹیفکیٹ
Since 2021 this no longer begins in a courtroom. NADRA issues succession certificates and letters of administration directly, in weeks rather than years, provided the heirs agree and nobody objects.دو ہزار اکیس کے بعد یہ کام عدالت سے شروع نہیں ہوتا۔ نادرا خود وراثتی سرٹیفکیٹ اور لیٹر آف ایڈمنسٹریشن جاری کرتا ہے، برسوں کے بجائے چند ہفتوں میں، بشرطیکہ ورثا متفق ہوں اور کوئی اعتراض نہ ہو۔

NADRA issues succession certificates without going to court. The death must be registered first, and every legal heir has to give biometrics.نادرا عدالت گئے بغیر وراثتی سرٹیفکیٹ جاری کرتا ہے۔ پہلے وفات کا اندراج ضروری ہے، اور ہر شرعی وارث کو بایومیٹرک دینا ہوتا ہے۔There is a public notice period for objections before it is issued. - The death certificate of the deceased — registered with the Union Council and NADRA.مرحوم کا وفات سرٹیفکیٹ — یونین کونسل اور نادرا میں درج شدہ۔
- The deceased’s CNIC — original or its number.مرحوم کا شناختی کارڈ — اصل یا اس کا نمبر۔

Register the death firstپہلے وفات کا اندراج کروائیں
Nothing can begin until the death is formally registered with the Union Council and reflected in NADRA’s records. A hospital letter or a burial receipt is not a death certificate.جب تک وفات کا باقاعدہ اندراج یونین کونسل اور نادرا کے ریکارڈ میں نہ ہو، کچھ شروع نہیں ہو سکتا۔ ہسپتال کا خط یا تدفین کی رسید وفات کا سرٹیفکیٹ نہیں۔
Do this even when there is no property yet. Families often delay death registration for years, then find every bank account and every land transfer frozen behind it. - 2

A succession certificate covers movable assets — bank balances, savings certificates, shares. A letter of administration covers immovable property — land, a house, a plot. Apply at a Succession Facilitation Unitسکسیشن فیسیلیٹیشن یونٹ میں درخواست دیں
NADRA runs dedicated units for this across the country, and applications are no longer tied to the province where the property sits. Overseas heirs are handled through NADRA’s facilitation route.نادرا نے ملک بھر میں اس کام کے لیے مخصوص یونٹ بنائے ہیں، اور اب درخواست اُسی صوبے میں دینا لازم نہیں جہاں جائیداد ہے۔ بیرونِ ملک ورثا کے لیے الگ سہولت موجود ہے۔

Every heir must be biometrically verifiedہر وارث کی بایومیٹرک تصدیق لازم ہے
All legal heirs are verified, at a NADRA centre or through the Pak-ID mobile app if they are abroad. No heir can be left out, written off, or signed for by someone else.تمام قانونی ورثا کی تصدیق ہوتی ہے، نادرا مرکز پر یا بیرونِ ملک ہونے کی صورت میں پاک آئی ڈی ایپ کے ذریعے۔ کسی وارث کو چھوڑا یا اس کی طرف سے دستخط نہیں کیے جا سکتے۔
Sisters and daughters count. Leaving a female heir off the application is both unlawful and the fastest way to have the whole file rejected. Their share exists whether or not the family acknowledges it. - 5
The public notice and objection periodعوامی اشتہار اور اعتراض کی مدت
NADRA publishes a notice in the newspapers inviting objections. If nobody objects within the window, the certificate is issued. If someone does object, the matter moves to court — which is exactly what the old system forced on everyone.نادرا اخبارات میں اشتہار دیتا ہے تاکہ اعتراضات آ سکیں۔ مقررہ مدت میں اعتراض نہ آئے تو سرٹیفکیٹ جاری ہو جاتا ہے۔ اعتراض آنے پر معاملہ عدالت جاتا ہے، جو پرانے نظام میں ہر ایک کے ساتھ ہوتا تھا۔

Pay and collectفیس ادا کریں اور وصول کریں

- Hiring a lawyer before checking NADRA.The 2021 law moved uncontested succession out of the courts. If the heirs agree, you may not need a lawyer at all. Some families still pay years of legal fees for something a NADRA unit handles in weeks.نادرا سے رجوع کیے بغیر وکیل کرنا۔دو ہزار اکیس کے قانون نے غیر متنازع وراثت کو عدالتوں سے نکال دیا۔ ورثا متفق ہوں تو شاید وکیل کی ضرورت ہی نہ ہو۔ کئی خاندان آج بھی برسوں کی فیس اُس کام پر دیتے ہیں جو نادرا یونٹ چند ہفتوں میں کرتا ہے۔
- The death was never registered.This is the single most common blockage, and it is often decades old. Register the death first; everything else waits behind it.وفات کا اندراج کبھی ہوا ہی نہیں۔یہ سب سے عام رکاوٹ ہے اور اکثر دہائیوں پرانی۔ پہلے وفات درج کروائیں؛ باقی سب اسی کے پیچھے رکا رہتا ہے۔
- Applying for the wrong certificate.Bank account but you applied for a letter of administration, or land but you applied for a succession certificate. Check which asset type you are claiming before you file.غلط سرٹیفکیٹ کی درخواست دینا۔بینک اکاؤنٹ کے لیے لیٹر آف ایڈمنسٹریشن، یا زمین کے لیے وراثتی سرٹیفکیٹ۔ درخواست سے پہلے دیکھیں کہ آپ کس قسم کا اثاثہ مانگ رہے ہیں۔
- One heir abroad and unreachable.Every heir must be verified. The Pak-ID app exists precisely for this, but it still requires that person to cooperate. - Omitting an heir to simplify things.It does not simplify anything. The application fails, and an excluded heir can challenge the result later, undoing everything.معاملہ آسان کرنے کے لیے کسی وارث کو چھوڑ دینا۔اس سے کچھ آسان نہیں ہوتا۔ درخواست ناکام ہو جاتی ہے، اور چھوڑا گیا وارث بعد میں پورے فیصلے کو چیلنج کر سکتا ہے۔
- Expecting it to work when the family is in dispute.This route is for agreement. A genuine objection sends the matter to court, and no amount of paperwork avoids that.خاندان میں تنازع ہو تو اس راستے کی توقع رکھنا۔یہ راستہ اتفاق کے لیے ہے۔ حقیقی اعتراض معاملہ عدالت بھیج دیتا ہے، اور کوئی کاغذی کارروائی اس سے نہیں بچاتی۔
